Walking in Obedience: Finding Purpose as a Christian Mompreneur

On this week’s episode of The Peaceful Mompreneur, I had the joy of speaking with Vivian Villanueva, faith-based speaker, mentor, and founder of the Crown and Faith Network. Vivian leads a Christ-centered movement dedicated to empowering women to heal, grow, and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. With a background in substance use counseling, the financial service industry, and life transformational ministry, Vivian speaks from a place of deep restoration and lived experience.

She carries a heart for women in all seasons, especially those navigating motherhood, grief, recovery, and identity. Through workshops, Bible studies, mentorship, and her Crown of Faith podcast, Vivian creates safe spaces for women to be seen, heard, and spiritually equipped to rise in faith and purpose.

From Lukewarm Christian to Walking in Obedience

Vivian shared how her own journey began with a lukewarm faith. For almost ten years, she was a “fan of Jesus” rather than a follower. She describes a period of living for herself—attending church sporadically, praying only when she needed something, and believing that God’s love allowed her to live however she wanted.

It wasn’t until she experienced deep grief and postpartum depression in 2023, after the birth of her daughter, that she truly surrendered to God. Vivian explains,

“It brought me to His feet. It humbled me. When I rededicated my life, I had this desire to know Him… as my Savior, my healer, my Heavenly Father, and my provider.”

This surrender allowed her to step into her calling, even without knowing all the steps ahead. She started her podcast in a humble way, trusting God with the how, demonstrating that obedience often comes before perfection.

Taking the First Step in Faith

Vivian emphasizes that the first step is always the hardest. For many women, fear and feelings of unworthiness hold them back. She encourages them to get involved—whether through Zoom prayer calls, Bible studies, or workshops.

“It really is a transformation process when it comes to knowing Jesus and really being able to walk with Him… putting my plans aside, my will aside, and following His Word.”

Starting small, stepping out in faith, and surrendering personal control are key parts of growing spiritually and walking in obedience.

Discovering Your Purpose and Saying No

A major part of Vivian’s mentoring work is helping women uncover their strengths and spiritual gifts. This process allows them to create a personal mission statement and define their calling clearly. Once aligned, saying no to opportunities that don’t fit becomes easier.

“You gotta start giving those no’s, and it is hard the first time… But it’s about being upfront and honest. People will respect that, and it helps you stay aligned with your calling.”

By understanding their purpose, women can focus on what truly matters and let go of the guilt or pressure to say yes to everything.

Overcoming Fear and Stepping into Boldness

Fear is one of the biggest barriers to obedience, Vivian explains. Fear of judgment or failure can keep women from taking even small steps forward. Her advice is simple but powerful:

“It’s not about me, what people think of me. It’s about getting this word out, because that’s what God is calling me to do… We have to die to ourselves every day.”

She encourages women to start taking action, even when it’s uncomfortable. Over time, stepping out becomes easier, even enjoyable, and opens the door to collaboration, growth, and spiritual fruit.

Advice for Christian Mompreneurs

If Vivian could give one piece of advice to a Christian mompreneur, it would be this:

“You are so worth it. You owe it to yourself to do this. Don’t let fear keep you stuck. On the other side of walking in obedience, there’s favor, fruit, and abundance. God is working all things together for your good—even the messy parts.”

Her encouragement is clear: trust God with the journey, take the hard steps, and stay aligned with your calling.

A Gift for Your Prayer Life

Vivian also offers a gift for women looking to deepen their prayer life: the Crown of Faith digital prayer cards. Designed for new believers, women rededicating their lives, or anyone needing a prayer reset, these cards provide a guided prayer for each day of the month—making it easy to build consistency and connect with God daily.

Walking in obedience isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about stepping out, trusting God, and aligning your life with His calling. Vivian’s journey from lukewarm faith to leading an empowered community of women is a powerful reminder that courage, surrender, and faith create space for growth, purpose, and spiritual fruit.
